The Maya Virtual Visit

The Maya Virtual Visit

Find out more about the people who discovered chocolate.

The Talk

This Virtual School Visit will include a short talk in which your class will discover more about the ancient culture of the Maya.

They will find out about many Maya creations, such as their number, calendar and writing systems, as well as what it was like to live in Maya times. The talk will also introduce classes to the many similarities and differences between Maya culture and their own, including expectations of beauty, artistic styles and technology. The talk will finish with the archaeologist showing the children some interesting Maya artefacts.

Then it is their turn to take charge...

Students will have the opportunity to participate in a dynamic discussion led by the visiting archaeologist. Classes can pose their archaeological questions and discuss the answers, tailoring their discoveries to their individual interests.
